All About Online Tutoring!

You might be sitting there thinking, "why would I try online tutoring?" "Isn't in-person tutoring better and more personal?". I get it! In fact, before I started tutoring online, I had these same thoughts. However, the more I tutor people in Spanish online, the more I realize that it has all the benefits of in person tutoring, and even more!

1. Personal, 1 to 1 Instruction: Just like in person tutoring, online tutoring can be done in a very personal way. Before I start tutoring someone, I like to get to know them and what their exact needs are. Why do you want you or your child to learn Spanish? What made you seek out a tutor? What are your goals for your student with Spanish, and what would their life look life if we could make that happen together? These are just a few of the questions I ask each student and parent. This way, I am able to teach them in a way that will help them specifically. I work with each parent (and/or student) to make a plan that makes sense for their individual goals and starting point.

2. No need to carry around big textbooks to study! During and after sessions, I will often send my students online resources or documents that I think will be helpful to them. I can even create "homework" for your student if you want them to have extra practice! Don't worry though, I won't be giving grades :-).

3. Learn Spanish from the comfort of your own home, or anywhere else: This is another advantage that you simply won't get from in-person tutoring: you can learn no matter where you are! Whether you are traveling on a vacation or in your home, as long as you have an internet connection and a webcam, you have access to tutoring. I won't judge if your student is in pajamas either! :-)

4. Perfect for kids and teenagers as well! Children and teenagers growing up in today's world use the internet all the time. They have grown up using it for everything from gaming to schoolwork. Online tutoring will be a great way to engage your child or teenager, and keep them motivated to learn. They will have fun while doing it!

5. Safety: With online tutoring, the parents can be as involved as they want in the process. They can choose to stay in the room while the child has their session or go take care of one of the million errands they need to do. They can also look over all the resources that are being used with their child to make sure they approve. Also, with the online classroom, a private connection is established just between the family and the tutor. Finally, any communication outside of the actual tutoring session takes place between the parent and the tutor.
